2 Coverings – God’s method ( Genesis 3:21)
Let’s jump from the fig leaves worn by Adam and Eve to the fig tree cursed by Jesus Christ. Let me explain the connection which you may not have seen before.
One early morning just days before the Lord was nailed to the Cross of Calvary, He saw a fig tree in the distance. Mark 11:12-13 tells us that Jesus was hungry, and as He approached the tree, He must have been anticipating that its fruit would satisfy His hunger. The fig tree looked good from afar, with its leaves protecting the figs from the elements. It wasn’t until the Lord was close enough to the tree that it was revealed as being barren of fruit. Jesus peeled away the covering of fig leaves to expose the true picture. Are we able to discern the false coverings that we’ve put on in different areas of our own lives? The key question is how each of us responds to such a revelation because the answer will speak volumes regarding our true spiritual condition.
