Summation of the Two Paths Book – Part 5

When a lie is cleverly packaged and spiritualised so that it becomes acceptable to the less discerning, it’s of greater concern as it has the potential to fool many believers.

‘Ye shall not surely die’ – in the Garden of Eden. The serpent subverted the Law of God and its consequence by convincing Eve that God would never follow through with the severe judgment of ‘thou shalt die’ even though He had declared it. Doesn’t this ring a bell? Essentially, the devil was telling Eve that if she violated God’s law, she would not be subject to the stated consequence because she would enjoy a special dispensation of grace. In effect, Satan suggested that sin and disobedience would be excused because a loving God would never follow through with a death sentence, despite His warning. Are you getting the picture?

Summation of the Two Paths Book – Part 4

The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake;
He will exalt the law and make it honorable. (Isa 42:21)

As we continue our Christian journey and penetrate deeper into the narrow path of Romans chapter 6, every believer is confronted with a whole new reality regarding Law and Sin. There is a heightened awareness of the reality of sin due to a fresh encounter with the Cross. Before that, sin might have been trivialised due to the perception that one was living uprightly. After all, most of today’s Church continues to make allowances that contradict God’s Law, resulting in a certain casualness regarding sin. To properly understand sin and its consequences, one must first understand the reality of God’s Law; you cannot fully appreciate one without the other. What is your response to this new reality?
